Best of the best

For the last 6 days of my trip in Singapore, I was filled with more than enough food every meal due to my request of tasting the best local delicacies. That means no random hawker centre/food court food will satisfy me. In a car, my family and I went all around this little island in search for the following dishes: Fried Prawn Noodles, Chicken Rice, Satay, Laksa, Satay Bee Hoon (=Satay Vercimilli), Roti Prata, Ice Kachang, Fish Noodles....etc *yummy*

If anyone ever goes to SG for holidays, the following are the places for some very savouring local food.

Satay - 51 Old Airport Road. The satay costs 40 cents each stick, comes with famous peanut & pineapple sauce. What's so special about this store's satay is the mouth watering sauce with fragrance of peanuts floating around the air and rare pineapple flesh. The meat is perfectly roasted till tender and juicy. The accompanying snacks of rice, cucumber and onions tastes just as great with the satay sauce!

Otah - 51 Old Airport Road. This food centre is big and has a wide variety of food there. Another store worthy of recommandation, is the one selling Otah (= roasted fish cake wrapped in banana leaves). The fish cake comes in spicy or non spicy flavour. I personally think that the non spicy one is really delicious since it's more chewy. It's very fresh and the texture of the fish paste is very smooth as well.

Muar - Muar Otah

Laksa - Katong Laksa. 328 East Coast Road. Don't be surprised if the laksa doesn't come with any chopsticks/fork. It's not meant to. The original Katong Laksa should be eaten only with a spoon, which I have no objection to anyways. The store people would ask if you would like "hum" (which is cockles, a type of seafood) but i'll advise you to say no because this kind of seafood could easily give rise to hepatitis so it's really no joke. Oh and add lots of laksa leaves (like 1 whole spoonful) and chili sauce! The spices enhances the overall taste of the noodles, especially with the strong aromatic coconut milk.

Chicken Rice and Tangerine water with Lime - Red Hill (Bukit Merah). Address to be updated later. Smooth, fatless (that's absolutely the best part for ladies) and tender, This store's chicken is probably the best that i've had. The texture of the meat are unlike those we eat in random food centres because it's so smooth i can say it's almost like silk. The best part of Hainanese chicken compared to the HK chicken, is the missing layer of fat. Makes you eat guilt free. The chili sauce and sweet black soya sauce tastes perfect when they are mixed together. When ordering this dish, tangerine+lime water is the perfect drink to go with it. It's amazingly good. Neither too sour nor too sweet, giving you just the right balance for the taste. Very refreshing for summer.

Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle - Food Republic in Wisma @ Orchard Road or Vivocity HarbourFront. This is a must try when you visit SG. You can't find it anywhere in Hong Kong, where else you may still stumble upon chicken rice and laksa. This dish is fried with 2 types of noodles, thick vercimili and the yellow noodles. There are more of the thick vercimilli usually. It's a wet dish with ingredients simmering in prawn sauce. It's served in some kind of leaf, wrapped in a shape like a sampan. The lime juice adds a very special flavour to the noodles and gives it the extra kick in the yumminess.

Having too much of a good thing

I have a kick for posting some funny/weird news or articles I saw nowadays. I thought it would be happy to share with everyone. I was reading The Standards this morning on my way to North Point in the mtr, and i just burst out laughing when I saw the last few paragraphs of the following  article. It's light and witty, which I think brings much more fun compared to some "gags", that have pretty blant punchlines. A laugh a day keeps the doctor away too!

Humping (parental guidance required)

This has got to be THE weirdest news I've come across recently. WTF?? And for your information, the holes in the bench are merely 1 inches. No wonder foreigners are now coming to the conclusion that asian guys are rather insignificant in some areas....

Man Almost Loses Penis Humping Steel Bench

Last night in Hong Kong, the police received a disturbing call from a man in trouble.

Xing, a 41 year-old man, was calling from LamTian park in the middle of the night. The lonely and disturbed man had apparently thought it would be fun to have sex with one of the steel sit-up benches around the park.

The bench has numerous small holes in it, which Xing used to attempt to satisfy himself. However, once he became aroused he found that he was stuck and could not get his penis out of the small hole.

He panicked and called the police to help him.

When police arrive they found Xian stuck face down where he had been stuck for some time. (4 hours..yikes!)

When doctors arrived on the scene they tried to release some of the pressure by removing some of his blood, but the penis was so swollen that they ended up having to cut the entire bench free and take it, with Xian attached, to the hospital.

4 painful hours later, Doctors finally separated Xian from his bench.

Doctors stated that if he had been stuck for even an hour longer, they would have had to remove his penis.

Lets just say this is probably one bad date that Xing will never forget.

Guys, get a girlfriend please.
